Styled + Set Christmas Tour

| | |

Hi and Welcome to the Styled + Set Christmas Tour – A Holiday Entertaining Blog Tour hosted by the lovely, Lory of Designthusiasm. If you are coming over from Stone Gable (didn’t you just love Yvonne’s gorgeous table?!) I’m so glad you are here to join me and several other amazing bloggers for this tour!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends this year and if you did not yet have a chance to visit the Styled + Set Thanksgiving Tour, you can catch up on that HERE.

My theme in the dining room this Christmas is one of the year’s hottest trends of plaid so I started my table as usual with my inspiration piece which was this plaid bowl. I was also inspired for this table setting by these black and white fringe placemats and wood slice chargers.

All of these components combined along with my gold flatware & napkin rings, give me that layered look I’m always going for to create interest in my table scapes.

I love the whimsical quality each piece brings to the table to make this setting playful and fun. My Thanksgiving table this year was much more serious so it was super fun to do something a little more on the whimsy side for Christmas. I also used the wood slice chargers as a placemat HERE in a more casual Thanksgiving table scape post that you may want to visit as well.

I layered my formal dinner plates on top of the wood slice chargers to bring a pop of shine to the table with their gold rim (I love the juxtaposition between the rustic wood and the fine china!).  And, adding to the whimsy of my table design I used these acrylic salad plates with pops of green garland for color that pick up on my centerpiece (that I’ll share more about in a moment).  I love using a mix of unexpected items in my table scapes to come up with a unique and unexpected outcome!

One of my favorite items in my table scape this year are the buffalo check christmas tree note cards I stumbled upon recently at HomeGoods. They were the perfect pop of red for my table setting and will ensure that everyone knows where their spot is at the table this year. They added a bit of whimsy as well with the buffalo check pattern, which also goes along with my plaid theme this year.

I used my favorite gold flatware and my fun wine glasses with gold accents that were my wedding crystal, so they are super special and bring some meaning to my table setting.  I always get tons of questions and comments on my glasses and they are no longer available but I’ve sourced some similar ones here, here & here.

For my center piece (and for a little added drama to my table) I was further inspired by using these wooden Christmas trees in a simple row of varying heights to line the center of my table. After the trees were added there wasn’t room for much else but I wanted to add some greenery to my table so I grabbed a few leaves from our magnolia tree in the back yard and layered them in, which completed my table.

The over all affect of the trees lining the table is quite dramatic and oh so Christmasy!!  Don’t ever be afraid to add a little drama to your table…it can make things much more interesting and so much more fun!

I also dressed up my bar cabinet area with nods to the season using some fun reindeer and my favorite brass tiered tray to display fruit and some delicious sweet treats (similar items sourced below photo).

3. Pick a theme for your table using something that speaks to you, which would be your inspiration piece such as my plaid bowls
4. Use some greenery from your yard for your centerpiece to bring your table to life
5. To save on time, use pre-made note cards as place setting name cards
