A party of three or five or any other odd number can seem to be a awkward number on Valentine’s Day and although Valentine’s is mostly thought of as a day for love birds, it can also be a time for family and friends to express their love and affection for one another in special ways. And, one of those ways around our home (with our small family of three) is to have a special meal together around the table so today I’m excited to be sharing my Soft & Simple Valentine’s Day Table with you. The most important thing to do on Valentine’s Day really is to be together an I’m almost certain this setting will help us to enjoy doing just that. If you have not seen my Valentine’s table along with an easy DIY placemat from last year, you can do that HERE.
For this table I wanted to go soft and simple all the while being realistic for the size and style of our family. My hubby has been traveling with work quite a bit this year so far so this will be a treat for him this Valentine’s, hence the reason I swapped out the head chair to his favorite dining chair in our home to make him feel special, and comfortable!
I usually let the flowers be the inspiration for my tablescapes but this time I saw these amazing cup cakes at my local bakery and my vision for this table spiraled from there.
But then the flowers were not far behind. My selection of white roses and pink snap dragons with a pinch of eucalyptus, along with garnishment of petite pink roses was just enough for my Simple & Soft Valentine’s Table this year. For my flower vessel I chose a clear glass hurricane to keep things fresh and simple on the table.
The white eyelet napkins with petite rose tied in white twine is a simple detail that brings a cozy elegance to the table. The napkins mimic the eyelet pattern in the white linen table runner as well to bring some continuity to my table.
My favorite item on the table are these crystal heart ornaments (similar here) I found recently at my local grocery store that has the best floral and nick knack department. I simply unknotted the velvet ribbon used for hanging the ornament and then re-tied it in a bow using it to dress my place setting as a subtle nod to the Valentine’s holiday.
For my place setting (and to keep things simple) I chose to use my beaded white dishes along with our mixed metal formal flatware. I love mixing metals because it keeps things light and fresh! When I pulled these out to start my table I think I fell in love with them all over again. You can find them HERE.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my table and feel inspired to decorate your own table for this sweet holiday coming up! Remember, the Valentine’s holiday is all about spending quality time with the ones you love whether that’s your sweetheart, your child, some other family member, a friend, or a neighbor. Stay tuned below so that I can forward you on to the next stop on this fun tour!!
